JLS, short for Jack the Lad Swing, first appeared on the X Factor in 2008, they were runners-up to Alexandra Burke. Following their appearances on the show, they signed a record deal and released their debut single "Beat Again" in July 2009. It became the fastest selling debut of the year and reached number one in the UK Singles Chart. The second single "Everybody in Love", released in November 2009, also went to umber one in the UK Singles Chart. The third single "One Shot" was released in February 2010.

JLS released their self titled debut album on 9 November 2009, which has already achieved sales of over one million copies. They won two Brit awards at the 2010 show, for British Single "Beat Again" and British Breakthrough, becoming the first X Factor contestants to ever win a Brit award.
